Kyrgyz Heritage in Contemporary Fashion
Traditional clothing carries more than aesthetic value. Every silhouette, ornament, and construction detail reflects centuries of craftsmanship, function, and cultural identity. The challenge of this project was not to recreate historical costume, but to understand the design logic behind it and reinterpret it through a contemporary fashion language.
The process began with extensive research into Kyrgyz textile traditions, garments, ornaments, and symbolism. I collected references from museum archives, historical photographs, ethnographic studies, and contemporary Kyrgyz designers, building a visual database that revealed recurring forms, proportions, construction methods, and decorative systems.
